FreshDefense - Information Security Tools and Topics |
FreshDefense.net is a Web site that serves as a way for us to share and distribute the information and systems security tools, frameworks, APIs, and libraries that we conceive of and develop in the course of our practical experience and academic research. We release a varied set of network and host security tools primarily for the x86/Linux environment. Our tools and libraries are available under an Open Source license (e.g., GPLv2, GPLv3).
We are a collection of network and systems security researchers, ethical hackers, and professional software engineers. We needed an outlet for our creativity and a way to share tools, frameworks, APIs, libraries, and security software in a way that we could control without operating under the constraints of a particular university, government, or commercial interest. So we created FreshDefense.net to share our work.
libdisorder is a simple C library for calculating the entropy of data streams and structures. Check out the page:

Health IT systems are fraught with security and privacy dangers. We have attempted to collect some related work in this space dealing with how well goverment-style entities have implemented large, distributed information systems. CNN.com recently changed their web style. This change resulted in image captions that were very hard for me to read. So I installed Greasemonkey in my Firefox web browser and wrote a Greasemonkey script to darken CNN captions. The script homepage is at the userscripts.org website. Beware which scripts you install; the installed Javascript has a lot of control over your browsing environment. Install scripts only from trusted sources. You need to have Greasemonkey installed to use this script. Greasemoneky is available at the Mozilla add-ons site through the links above. After you install Greasemonkey (and possibly restart Firefox), just click on the link to the script to install it.
